Connect locator events to GTM and GA4
Forward searches, dealer selections, and outbound clicks from Maptera into Google Tag Manager.
Last updated August 21, 2026
Generated Maptera embeds and the Shopify theme block forward verified locator events into the parent storefront dataLayer. Your GTM administrator maps those events to GA4.
Events
- maptera_locator_view
- maptera_search
- maptera_dealer_select
- maptera_website_click
- maptera_directions_click
- maptera_phone_click
Configure GTM
- 1Create Data Layer VariablesCreate variables for the maptera_* search, result, dealer, rank, and distance fields you need.
- 2Create Custom Event triggersCreate one trigger for each of the six event names.
- 3Create GA4 Event tagsUse the same event names and map your Data Layer Variables as event parameters.
- 4Preview every interactionSearch, select a dealer, and click website, directions, and phone. Confirm every event fires exactly once.
