Install a Store Locator on Squarespace
Paste one snippet into a Squarespace Code Block and a fully interactive, searchable locator appears. No plugin to install, no Google Maps API key to provision, and no republish needed when your locations change.
This is an embed, not a Squarespace plugin
Maptera has native apps for Shopify and Wix only. On Squarespace the locator runs from a single hosted script tag you paste into a code or embed block. Nothing is installed into Squarespace itself, there is no extension to keep updated, and you do not need a Google Maps API key. The upside of the embed is that content changes go live from the Maptera dashboard without republishing your site.
Why the embed works well on Squarespace
Works on any Squarespace plan with Code Blocks
The locator renders from a standard script tag inside a Code Block, so it behaves like any other Squarespace content block and stays inside your existing template.
Better than the built-in map block
Squarespace's native map block shows a single pinned address. The Maptera embed gives visitors search, geolocation, distance-sorted results, filters, hours, and directions across your whole location list.
Content updates without republishing
Locations, hours, and styling live in the Maptera dashboard. Change them there and the change appears on the live Squarespace site immediately.
How to install, step by step
Add locations, copy the snippet, paste it into Squarespace. Usually under ten minutes.
Create a Maptera account
Sign up on the Free plan. No credit card is required and you can hold up to 10 locations permanently.
Add your locations
Add locations one at a time in the dashboard or bulk-import a CSV. Addresses are geocoded to coordinates automatically, so pins land in the right place without you supplying latitude and longitude.
Style the locator
Pick a layout (sidebar, full map, or list), set brand colours, and choose which controls to show — search, category filters, hours, call, and directions. On paid plans you can also remove the "Powered by Maptera" credit.
Copy your embed snippet
Open the Embed section of the Maptera dashboard and copy the generated script tag. It is a single line and it contains your locator ID, so nothing else needs configuring.
Add a Code Block in Squarespace
In the Squarespace editor, open the page you want the locator on, click an insert point, and choose Code from the block menu. Squarespace Code Blocks are available on Business and Commerce plans.
Paste the snippet and set the block to HTML
Paste the Maptera snippet into the Code Block, make sure the block type is set to HTML rather than Markdown, and leave "Display Source" unchecked. Squarespace will not render the map in the editor preview — that is expected.
Save and view the live page
Save the page and open it outside the editor. The locator renders full width in its container and is responsive on mobile. If it does not appear, check the block is HTML and that Display Source is off — those two settings account for nearly every failed Squarespace embed.

Squarespace install FAQ
Is there a Squarespace store locator plugin?
Squarespace does not have a plugin or extension marketplace in the way WordPress does, so no store locator installs into Squarespace itself. Every option you will find, including Maptera, works as an embedded snippet inside a Code Block. Anything marketed as a "Squarespace store locator plugin" is an embed with a different name.
Which Squarespace plan do I need?
You need a plan that includes Code Blocks, which on current Squarespace pricing means Business or either Commerce tier. Personal plans do not include Code Blocks, so the embed cannot be added there.
Do I need a Google Maps API key?
No. The Maptera locator is hosted, so map rendering and geocoding are handled on our side. You never create a Google Cloud project, never provision a key, and never receive a Google Maps bill.
Why does the map not show in the Squarespace editor?
Squarespace deliberately does not execute third-party scripts inside the editor preview. Save the page and view it on the live site, or use the browser preview, and the locator will render.
Can I put the locator on more than one page?
Yes. Paste the same snippet into as many Code Blocks as you like. They all read from the same location list, so you only maintain the data once.
Is it free?
The Free plan covers up to 10 locations permanently with the full map, search, geocoding, and SEO location pages, and needs no credit card. It does keep a small "Powered by Maptera" credit on the widget; removing that starts on the Starter plan.
