Webflow — universal embed

Install a Store Locator on Webflow

Drop one snippet into a Webflow Embed element and publish. The locator inherits your section width, stays responsive across breakpoints, and needs no Google Maps API key.

This is an embed, not a Webflow plugin

Maptera has native apps for Shopify and Wix only. On Webflow the locator runs from a single hosted script tag you paste into a code or embed block. Nothing is installed into Webflow itself, there is no extension to keep updated, and you do not need a Google Maps API key. The upside of the embed is that content changes go live from the Maptera dashboard without republishing your site.

Why the embed works well on Webflow

Fits the Webflow workflow

An Embed element is a first-class Webflow component, so the locator sits inside your normal layout, respects your container widths, and can be positioned per breakpoint like anything else on the canvas.

No Google Maps API key

The usual Webflow approach to a locator is custom code against the Google Maps API, which means a Cloud project, a key, and a billing account. A hosted embed skips all of it.

Content updates without republishing

Adding a location or fixing opening hours happens in the Maptera dashboard and appears on the live site immediately, so a data change never requires a Webflow publish.

How to install, step by step

Add locations, copy the snippet, paste it into Webflow. Usually under ten minutes.

1

Create a Maptera account

Sign up on the Free plan — no credit card, up to 10 locations permanently.

2

Add your locations

Add them in the dashboard or bulk-import a CSV. Addresses geocode to coordinates automatically.

3

Style the locator to match your Webflow design

Set brand colours, pick a layout, and choose which controls appear. Getting this close to your design system before embedding saves fighting it with custom CSS later.

4

Copy your embed snippet

Open the Embed section of the Maptera dashboard and copy the one-line script tag.

5

Add an Embed element in the Designer

On the page you want the locator on, add an Embed element from the Add panel. Place it inside a container or section that already has the width you want the locator to take.

6

Paste the snippet and save

Paste into the code editor that opens, then save. The Designer canvas shows a placeholder rather than the live map, which is expected — Webflow does not execute third-party scripts on the canvas.

7

Publish and check the live site

Publish, then check the published domain. Also check your breakpoints: give the parent container a sensible minimum height so the locator has room on mobile.

Webflow install FAQ

Can you add a store locator to Webflow?

Yes. Webflow has no native store locator, so the options are custom code against a mapping API or an embedded third-party locator. The embed is far less work: one Embed element, one snippet, no API key and no maintenance.

Why does the map not show in the Webflow Designer?

Webflow deliberately does not run third-party scripts on the Designer canvas — Embed elements show a placeholder instead. Publish the site and check the live URL, or use the preview on the published domain.

Will it break my responsive layout?

No. The locator fills its parent container and is responsive. The one thing worth setting is a minimum height on that container so it has room at mobile breakpoints rather than collapsing.

Can I use Webflow CMS collections to manage locations?

Locations are managed in the Maptera dashboard rather than in Webflow CMS, so this is a genuine trade-off worth naming: you keep location data in one place across every site that embeds the locator, but it is not a Webflow collection you can bind to other Webflow content.

Do I need a Google Maps API key?

No. Map rendering and geocoding are hosted, so there is no Google Cloud project to set up and no Maps usage bill.

Is it free?

The Free plan covers up to 10 locations permanently with no credit card. It keeps a small "Powered by Maptera" credit on the widget; removing that starts on the Starter plan.
