Install a Store Locator on BigCommerce
Paste one snippet into a BigCommerce web page or theme template and a searchable locator appears. It works on every BigCommerce plan, needs no app install, and needs no Google Maps API key.
This is an embed, not a BigCommerce plugin
Maptera has native apps for Shopify and Wix only. On BigCommerce the locator runs from a single hosted script tag you paste into a code or embed block. Nothing is installed into BigCommerce itself, there is no extension to keep updated, and you do not need a Google Maps API key. The upside of the embed is that content changes go live from the Maptera dashboard without republishing your site.
Why the embed works well on BigCommerce
Works on every BigCommerce plan
Because it is a script tag rather than an app, there is no plan-tier requirement and no app-marketplace subscription stacked on top of your BigCommerce bill.
Page or template, your choice
Put it on a dedicated Store Locator web page, or drop it into a theme template if you want the locator to appear in a consistent position across several pages.
Updates without touching the theme
Locations, hours, categories and styling live in the Maptera dashboard. Changing them never involves editing your BigCommerce theme again.
How to install, step by step
Add locations, copy the snippet, paste it into BigCommerce. Usually under ten minutes.
Create a Maptera account
Sign up on the Free plan — no credit card, up to 10 locations permanently.
Add your locations
Add them in the dashboard or bulk-import a CSV. Addresses are geocoded to coordinates automatically.
Style the locator
Pick a layout, set brand colours to match your BigCommerce theme, and choose which controls appear — search, filters, hours, call and directions.
Copy your embed snippet
Open the Embed section of the Maptera dashboard and copy the one-line script tag.
Create a web page in BigCommerce
In the control panel go to Storefront, then Web Pages, and add a new page. Set the type to a page with its own content rather than a link.
Switch the editor to HTML and paste
In the page content editor, switch to the HTML or source view before pasting. The WYSIWYG view will strip the script tag if you paste into it directly.
Save, then check the live storefront
View the page on your storefront rather than in the editor preview. If the map does not appear, confirm the snippet survived the save by reopening the HTML view — a WYSIWYG round-trip is the usual culprit.

BigCommerce install FAQ
Is there a free BigCommerce store locator?
Yes. The Maptera Free plan covers up to 10 locations permanently with the full map, search, geocoding and SEO location pages, and needs no credit card. It keeps a small "Powered by Maptera" credit on the widget; removing that starts on the Starter plan.
Do I need a BigCommerce app?
No. The locator runs from a hosted script tag, so there is nothing to install from the BigCommerce marketplace and no separate app subscription. That also means it works identically on every BigCommerce plan.
Where exactly do I paste the snippet?
Into a BigCommerce web page with the content editor switched to HTML or source view, or into a theme template file if you want it in a fixed position sitewide. Pasting into the WYSIWYG view will not work — it removes script tags on save.
Do I need a Google Maps API key?
No. Map rendering and geocoding are handled on Maptera’s side, so there is no Google Cloud project to create and no Maps billing to monitor.
Can I filter locations by product line or service?
Yes. Each location carries its own categories, which become front-end filters. Useful for BigCommerce stores that also sell through retailers and want a where-to-buy map rather than a list of their own branches.
Why did my snippet disappear after saving?
The BigCommerce WYSIWYG editor strips script tags. Reopen the page, switch to HTML or source view first, paste there, and save from that view.
